Heterocycles are ubiquitous motifs in most drugs as well as many natural products and developing new routes to access these privileged scaffolds is therefore of great importance. In our research we often apply synthetic methodology to generate both aromatic and non-aromatic heterocycles. This commonly involves the use of flow chemistry where reaction telescoping allows for more streamlined reactions whilst miniaturisation and containment offer advantages in terms of safely using otherwise hazardous conditions.
